Gov. Oyebanji’s wife visits EKIFEST ’24, lauds Bureau, exhibits

THE First Lady of Ekiti State Prof. (Mrs.) Oluyemi Oyebanji has expressed her heartfelt commendation for Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development during her recent visit to EKIFEST 24. Accompanied by several members of the Federation of Ekiti State Students, Mrs. Oyebanji toured the vibrant exhibition showcasing the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of Ekiti State.
Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, led by its Director General, Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, presented an impressive array of stands that highlighted the best of Ekiti’s offerings. The exhibition featured a variety of cultural artifacts, including the iconic Ayo Olopon game, which serves as a symbol of the state’s rich cultural history.
Additionally, the bureau provided invaluable information on available hotels, ensuring that visitors to Ekiti are well-informed about accommodations that best suit their needs. With the registration of visitors being another focal point, the bureau emphasized its commitment to enhancing visitor experiences and promotion of tourism within the state.
The first lady took particular interest in the exhibits showcasing exquisite artworks and textiles from the Adire Ekiti Hub. The vibrant colours and intricate designs were a testament to the craftsmanship and creativity of Ekiti artisans.
“What I have seen here today is a representation of our identity and heritage,” Mrs. Oyebanji remarked. “It is crucial that we promote these talents and ensure that our culture, tourism assets , heritage sites, ecotourism enclaves are preserved, branded, showcased and cherished not just within our state, but beyond our borders.”
Mrs. Oyebanji also highlighted the importance of tourism in driving economic growth and creating job opportunities for the youth of Ekiti State. She called upon the Federation of Ekiti State Students and other stakeholders to work collaboratively with the bureau to put Ekiti on the map as a must-visit destination in Nigeria.

Barrister Ojo-Lanre expressed gratitude for the first lady’s visit, support and advocacy for the initiatives of the bureau. He pointed out that Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development’s team is being fueled by the passion of the state’s governor, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. Ojo-Lanre reiterated the commitment of the bureau to harness the potential of Ekiti’s tourism sector, encouraging innovation and sustainability.
He commended Mrs. Oyebanji for her strides at putting Ekiti State on the global platform of comity of traditional textiles producing states via her Adire Ekiti Hub.
As EKIFEST 2024 continues, Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development looks forward to welcoming more visitors as it continues to showcase the unique cultural experiences that Ekiti has to offer.
