Darah, Bassey to headline launch of ‘The Great Delusion’

TWO cultural experts, Prof. G.G Darah and Dr, Nnimmo Bassey, will headline the launch of Majekodunmi O. Ebhohon’s The Great Delusion in Benin City. The launch is being organised by the Institute of Episteresurrecist Arts (IEA), in collaboration with Community and Culture Desk of the Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF). The launch of The Great Delusion will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The event starts at 10:00m at HOMEF’s Ikike Gardens, No. 30, 19th Street, off Ugbowo-Lagos Road, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Links for virtual participation will be shared soon.

The Great Delusion, a new play by Majekodunmi O. Ebhohon, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Prize for Drama. The work examines cultural displacement, reclamation, and the resurrection of African epistemologies within the context of precolonial identity and postcolonial resistance.

The keynote address will be delivered by Prof. G. G. Darah, a leading scholar of African literature, folklore, and cultural sciences. The event will be chaired by Dr. Nnimmo Bassey, renowned environmental advocate and prolific author.

Special guests include a professor of History at the University of Central Florida, US and author of the foreword to The Great Delusion, Dr. Vibert Issa White, American actress and filmmaker, Queen Nina Womack, President of the Caribbean American Diaspora Alliance (CADA), Amb. Donna Morton Morgan, and veteran journalist and culture advocate, Mr. Jahman Anikulapo.

Themed ‘The Stolen Are Back — A Celebration of Return, Reclamation and Renaissance,’ the launch will feature readings, discussions, and critical reflections on the play’s engagement with African cultural resurgence and epistemic renewal.
