Poetry: The Slipper
By Majekodunmi Oseriemen Ebhohon
MY thumb keeps digging
into the hollow
where his heel used to press
the rubber smooth.
I found the wire twist
he used to fix the plug.
It tore my palm just now
when I reached down.
I forced my foot in,
but it won’t fit,
the strap too tight,
still holding his exact size,
still smelling of the rainbow film
where they left the trench full.
