Miss Timilehin: Rising Nigerian-American star ready to take over Afrobeats

MISS Timilehin (Timilehin Akinsola), a Nigerian-merican music star, is fast carving a niche for herself in the Afrobeats scene with a deep passion for music and a commitment to her craft. In a recent interview, she shared insights into her journey, influences, and aspirations. Akinsola, who describes herself as a lifelong singer, made the decision to take music seriously in 2020 during the pandemic.
“There was just nothing else to do,” she explains, reflecting on how the global lockdowns provided an opportunity to focus on her artistry. Her music is deeply personal, with each song reflecting her experiences and cultural background. Speaking about her track ‘All My Love’, she describes it as a conversation with God about her journey in life.
“I talk about how He says it will be a tough journey and my willingness to commit to the battles that lie ahead,” she says. “At the end of the day, all of my love goes to Him.”
Miss Timilehin cites Michael Jackson as her biggest musical influence, admiring the late pop icon’s dedication to the craft. Her decision to focus on Afrobeats, he says, is driven by her love for the genre’s energetic rhythms. Her song ‘All My Love’ bears out this enrgetic rhythm that defines Afrobeats that lovers of the music genre will find appealing, with the right accoustics in place that make the body move to it. What’s even more appealling is the quality of her voice and its alluring inflections that effortlessly match the rhythem of her music. Combined with her music rhythm Miss Timilehin has put herself in a pole position to make huge impact in the Nigerian music scene with her soulful voice and enchanting rhythms.
“I just like the actual beats and the heavy drums,” she explains. “It’s fun to dance to as it can turn any song into a dance song.”
Currently an independent artiste, Miss Timilehin says she has yet to collaborate with any major musician, but expresses a strong desire to work with Afrobeats stars like Rema. Her ambition in the industry is clear: “To take over, of course! I mean, why not?” she asserts confidently.
Although she has not yet performed in Nigeria, Miss Timilehin plans to do so in the future. With her growing dedication to Afrobeats and an unwavering drive to succeed, she is positioning himself as one to watch in the global music scene.
