A journey to Mustapha Akanbi Foundation
By Saka Laide
OUR visit began at The Mustapha Akanbi Library and Resource Centre, a haven of knowledge nestled in serene surroundings. The library boasts of an extensive collection of books and modern computer facilities. Its ambiance is conducive for learning, complemented by comfortable lodging rooms and a designated area for reading daily newspapers. Adjacent to the library is a tranquil mosque for prayer, enhancing its role as a holistic centre for both intellectual and spiritual growth. Notably, the walls are adorned with photographs commemorating our esteemed national heroes and heroines.
Following our enriching visit to The Mustapha Akanbi Library and Resource Centre, we proceeded to attend the monthly ANA Kwara meeting, an event that brimmed with literary fervour. The session featured readings from writers: ‘My Thought’ by Aliyu Abdulwaheed, ‘Sea of Solitude’ by Ajia, ‘The Battle is Over’ by Oladele Babajamu and ‘Do Not Feed Me’ by Nasthepoet.
The diverse perspectives presented sparked lively discussions among scholars and authors alike, illuminating the themes and intentions behind each literary work. It was a delightful experience for all attendees, fostering a deeper appreciation of literature and creativity. To commemorate this memorable gathering, a group photograph was taken to capture the camaraderie and intellectual exchange.
Additionally, we express our gratitude to the founder of Imodoye Writers Enclave, Dr. Usman Oladipo Akanbi for his gracious hospitality extended to the four participants of Imodoye Writers Enclave at Water View. His generosity in hosting us with sumptuous food and refreshments exemplifies his commitment to fostering knowledge and community within the residency. We sincerely appreciate Dr. Akanbi’s dedication and support in managing the residency.
