Mr. May D visits Ekiti State, commits to enhancing entertainment, tourism

YESTERDAY, Sunday, May 19, 2024, Ekiti State had the distinct honor of hosting one of Nigeria’s most illustrious musicians, Mr. Ayokunmi Akindumila, popularly known as Mr. May D. Renowned globally for his timeless hit Ile Ijo, Mr. May D’s visit marks a significant moment for the state’s cultural and tourism sectors.
The Director-General of Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development (EKBTD), Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, along with his team, including the Executive Secretary, Barrister Adegboyega Morakinyo and Special Assistant , Peculiar Ekiran, warmly received Mr. May D to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s office in Ado Ekiti. This visit, driven by Mr. May D’s own volition, underscores his dedication to contributing to the state’s tourism and entertainment sectors under the administration of Governor Oyebanji.
The Bureau celebrated the return of the Ode Ekiti-born star, highlighting his achievements and global influence. In a special gesture of hospitality, Mr. May D was given an extensive tour of Ekiti’s prime tourist attractions. His first stop was the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort, where management staff, Mr. Dayo Olujekun and Chief Ayo Ademilua, guided him through the unique natural phenomenon of the confluence of warm and cold springs. The Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort, celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most scenic and serene destinations, left a lasting impression on the artist.

Also, Mr. May D visited the Arinta Waterfall in Ipole Iloro in the company of his team, which included Ariyo Olujimi and two other dynamic young entrepreneurs, who experienced the breathtaking beauty of the waterfall. The group spent considerable time enjoying the natural splendour and tranquility of Arinta Waterfall, a testament to Ekiti State’s rich natural heritage.
In his closing remarks, Mr. May D expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the warm reception and shared his commitment to leveraging his influence and platform to boost entertainment and tourism in Ekiti State. He emphasized the potential of the state’s natural attractions to draw both local and international tourists, promising to use his status to spotlight Ekiti’s hidden gems.
The DG, Ojo-Lanre expressed his optimism about the positive impact of Mr. May D’s involvement, stating, “Mr. May D’s visit is a beacon of hope for Ekiti’s tourism sector.
