Mbajorgu, others re-enact ANA@40 formation, celebrate Chinua Achebe’s founding legacy
A former National Publicity Secretary (South) of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and other literary enthusiasts will re-enact the formation of the writers’ body at its University of Nigeria, Nsukka, cradle tomorrow, Sunday, October 31, 2021 where the journey to a writerly association started 40 years ago. Mr. Camilus Ukah will be the special guest of honour “to a literary event in commemoration of ANA@40 anniversary and the celebration of the legacy of the founder, Emeritus Professor Chinua Achebe’.
The literary event will have the current ANA President, Camillus Ukah as Special Guest of Honour and it will hold on Sunday, 31, 2021 at the Senior Staff Club (Bush Bar) of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka. Time is 2:00PM. The event promises to be an avenue for literary discourse, reading and networking. ANA members in and around Nsukka and Enugu State are enjoined to attend.
According to Mbajorgu, “The celebration is tagged ‘Back to the Cradle’; it’s as significant as going to back to the cradle where Christ was born; as Mecca where Mohammed was born. What’s more, the ideals of the association have been fulfilled to the extent that the association there’s great bonding together of authors across board from all segments of the country. I know all authors from all parts of Nigeria; it’s as important as that.”
The university don also said mentoring of young writers is one of the areas where ANA has made impact.
“Mentoring of young writers is even more active in the north where you have a lot of groups of young writers being active,” he said. “We have a lot of secondary schools and young groups getting funding from ANA for mentorship. It’s active in the west and is also active in the east as well.”
Mbajorgu quipped that there will be a lot of palm wine celebrate the founding anniversary of ANA at the university’s Bush Bar and enjoined writers and world-be writers in the Nsukka, Enugu axis not to miss the special fun.
