A feast of GbeduPoetry at Lagos Fringe Festival 2022

LAGOS Fringe Festival of 2022 featured a unique production called ‘GbeduPoetry,’ which anyone can dance and vibe to. Basically, it is a blend of poetry and music to give you a beautiful experience. GbeduPoetry is an innovation by a Lagos-based poet, Otatane-oso Freeman Andrew (aka 2’WYTH GbeduPoet). The fifth edition of Lagos Fringe Festival took place from Tuesday, November 22 through November 27, 2022. GbeduPoetry had two sessions at the festival. The first one was on Friday, November 25 while the second one was on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Shortly after his show at Esther’s Lounge, Freedom Park, Lagos, GbeduPoet said it was his third outing at a festival like this where he showcased his unique spoken word poetry, adding that he’d showcased it once at Lagos Theatre Festival in 2020 and twice with Lagos Fringe Festival in 2020 and 2022, respectively. He said his vision is to make poetry mainstream, and to realise that dream, he has released two spoken word poetry (GbeduPoetry) projects and a Single ‘Chapman’ in his debut spoken word poetry album, GbeduPoetry EP and a Single titled ‘Lekki Massacre,’ a poetic, rap and Afrobeat feel of storytelling about the tragic shooting at the Lekki Tollgate during 2020 #EndSARS protest. These projects are available on Audiomack https://audiomack.com/2wythgbedupoet and other online music stores like iTunes, Spotify, etc.
GbeduPoetry show at Lagos Fringe Festival 2022 was one of the highlights of the festival, as it had a lot of people talking about it, with the CEO of Brighton Fringe UK, Mr. Julian Caddy, remarking about the show thus, “I was at the GbeduPoetry show, and it was energetic, authentic, innovative, unique, creative art form. I encourage everyone to see it, too.”
Also, GbeduPoet turned up in two fashionable outfits for his two shows designed by two Lagos fashion designers – H7S and Danpencil Clothing. They were also his sponsors, and had him spruced up with masterpieces from their collections.
