THE Board of Trustees and Management of the Society of Book and Magazine Editors of Nigeria (SBMEN) have announced its general editing workshop with the theme ‘Editorial Practice and Project Management’ programme, a two-day virtual training scheduled for February 21 and 22, 2025.

This training is the first part of SBMEN’s annual courses to provide capacity building and increase the proficiency of editorial professionals. The aim of this workshop is to provide a foundation for aspiring and emerging editors looking to understand how to manage editorial projects. It also serves as a refresher course to re-establish the basics for professional editors.

According to the Executive Director, Anwuli Ojogwu, “With more people becoming interested in editing and content development, it is important to equip them with the skills to have successful careers. The skills of an editor are universal, in-demand and always applicable in other careers beyond publishing.”

Whether you are a seasoned editor, writer, content creator or someone looking to break into these fields, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to help you gain the necessary skills and knowledge to propel your career. The course will be delivered through lectures, discussions, class exercises, reading assignments and case studies. The workshop will be facilitated by accomplished editorial professionals across Nigeria.

For more information on how to enrol in the training, email: training@sbmen.org.ng and www.sbmen.org.ng. Early bird registration costs N70,000.
