Dr. Bukar Usman Foundation tasked to nominate candidates for Africa Union Scholarships

THE Dr. Bukar Usman Foundation has received invitation to nominate at least 15 undergraduate and post-graduate candidates for scholarship for first, second and third degrees obtainable in the UK, Canada and the US. The deadline for submission of the required documents enumerated in the attachment document is October 1, 2024. All candidates recommended for the scholarship have three institutions to pick from, and they include University of Toronto, Canada, University of Wisconsin, Madison, United States and Oxford University, United Kingdom, respectively. Standtall Africa Initiative is organisation facilitating the scholarship programmes for AU across Africa.

These scholarship programmes by African Union (AU) are being facilitated by its established affiliation with these three institutions. All recommended candidates are therefore expected to visit the websites of these institutions to know the one that offers them their course of interest which automatically becomes their choice of institution. The scholarship is a total package includees admission, visa (study and work visa combined), tuition, accommodation, medicals and upkeep.

Candidates for first degree are expected to send the scanned copies of the following documents: WAEC result (NECO not acceptable), certificate of citizenship, birth certificate, data page of international passport and consent letter from parent/guardian of candidates. Candidates for Masters’ degree, in addition to the above documents, shall also forward NYSC certificate or its equivalent, result of first degree and transcript if available. If transcript is not available, the screening committee shall request for it from the candidate’s school on behalf of the candidate. And for PhD candidates, in addition to the above, the candidate shall also forward Masters’ degree result and research topic of interest.

Standtall Africa Initiative has therefore tasked Dr. Usman to shortlist five candidates for first degree, five for Masters’ and, if possible, five candidates for PhD, respectively. All shortlisted names and their documents are to be forward to us (Standtall Africa Initiative) on or before Tuesday, ctober 1, 2024.

However, handling charges for the scholarship programmes apply and range from N2 million for undergraduate programme, N3.5 million for Masters’ and N5 million for PhD candidates, respectively which Standtall Africa Initiative receives for the scholarship screening process on behalf of AU, explained the Country Representative of Standtall Africa Initiative (STAI), Dr. Ogah Emmanuel E.

The invitation to Dr. Bukar Usman Foundation to nominate candidates for these prestigious institutions of study is a further testament to Dr. Usman’s rising pedigree on the African continent on the many humanistic roles he plays in enriching the lives of others. This is indeed an additional responsibility which, like others, Dr. Usman will discharge creditably to enable young Nigerians obtain quality education from these global educational institutions.
