Bukar Usman to speak at Bura Day Celebration April 12

PROLIFIC Nigerian author, chief promoter of Africa’s oral narrative and former Permanent Secretary in the Presidency, Dr. Bukar Usman, will be the guest speaker at Bura Day Celebration 2025 scheduled for April 12, at AGNL Park, Gudu District, Abuja. The Day is being organised by Bura Women Development Association (BUWDA), Nigeria. Bura is the major ethnic nationality in Biu Emirate, which is the second largest emirate in Borno State, located in the southern part of the state.

Among the highlights of the Bura Day Celebration include the launching of a microfinance bank and the renovation and furnishing of the guest house at the Skills Acquisition Centre, Marama, in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, the guest speaker will reawaken patriotic zeal among the people to contribute to the development of Biu nation.

The event will be chaired by the former Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd). The Special Guest of Honour is the Governor of Borno State Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum while the guest of honour is Gen. P.C. Tarfa (rtd).

Other dignitaries include the guest speaker Dr. Bukar Usman, Tafidan Garkida and Father of the Day Chief Michael G. Tarfa, the Chief Launcher for Renovation and Furnishing of Guest House at the Skill Acquisition Centre, Marama Eng. Anjili Mshelbwala and the Vice Chancellor of Nile University Chief Launcher of the Microfinance Bank Prof. Dili Dogo Mshelia. All the BoT members of BUWDA serve collectively as the chief host.
