‘#WithChude Live! is my first major event in Nigeria after release of ‘Dream Count”

CHIMAMANDA Ngozi Adichie has been confirmed as one of the guests for #WithChude Live!, an event organized by media entrepreneur Mr. Chude Jideonwo. Chude interviewed Chimamanda in 2005 for a ThisDay cover, and after 20 years they will be having another interview on #WithChude Live! Adichie, who is one of the most celebrated writers of this generation, will be making her first major appearance in Nigeria since the release of her latest book Dream Count. Speaking on her participation, Chude shared that someone on radio called it a ‘homecoming.’
#WithChude Live! will take place on April 27, 2025, at The Palms Mall, Oniru. The event promises to be a beautiful day for your mind, heart, and spirit.
According to Jideonwo, “They’ve been seeing her around the world, and now #WithChude Live! is the first major event she’s doing here since Dream Count came out.” Adichie agreed and added with a laugh, “Other people will do something for themselves but she is doing something for Chude.”
Dream Count has been widely received, with readers searching for copies and praising its depth. When asked how it feels to see such a response, Adichie said, “I think all my books matter to me, obviously, but this book is different because I am different. People don’t often understand that just because you’ve had success doesn’t mean that you think you will continue to have success,” adding that she has never felt this grateful in her life.
When asked why she said ‘yes’ to #WithChude Live!, Adichie said, “Chude, it’s because you are so special to me and I’m doing it because of you.” She spoke about knowing Chude for over 20 years and watching him grow. “I really have seen you grow in all kinds of ways, but most of all it’s because you are a good person. I have come to a point in my life where I want to be around only good people, people who are genuine in their goodness and not people who perform goodness. That’s why I’m doing it.”
In a post on Instagram, Chude wrote, “It will be Chimamanda like you’ve never seen, read or heard her before!”
Adichie will be joined by a lineup of other special guests including Funke Akindele, Bovi, Falz, and Pastor Jerry Eze. The event will also feature a panel session with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Kiekie, Taaooma, Veekee James, Hauwa Lawal, and Moses Bliss.
