REPRONIG forges historic partnership with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife

IN a groundbreaking ceremony, the Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG) team, led by its Chairman Mr. Gbadega Adedapo, paid a sensitization visit to the authority of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife on January 28, 2025. This landmark event marked the beginning of a collaborative and mutually rewarding partnership between OAU and REPRONIG.
The REPRONIG team was warmly received by the university’s top echelon, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Abayomi Daramola, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire. Other principal officers, including former Director, Institute of Cultural Studies, Prof. Gbemisola Adeola, were also present.
Mr. Adedapo introduced the REPRONIG team, comprising Dr. Wale Okediran (Chairman, Central Working Committee), Mr. Kayode Motunrayo (Ag. Executive Director) Mr. Tosin Akeredolu (Head, Licensing) and Mr. Femi Ogunyejo (Head, Media), and emphasised REPRONIG’s commitment to promoting intellectual property rights, academic excellence, and ethical scholarship.
The DVC, Administration, Prof. Abayomi Daramola applauded REPRONIG’s initiatives, describing them as a “welcome development” that would benefit writers, researchers, academia and other owners of intellectual property. He expressed the university’s enthusiasm for the partnership, which would foster a culture of respect for intellectual property rights.
The Association of Nigerian Authors, OAU Chapter, was also on hand to receive the REPRONIG team. Members, including Isaiah Adepoju, Editor-in-Chief, Oyeleke Joel, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Ohacho Francis, Secretary, Opefeyitimi Fortune, and Ifedayo Olowu, expressed their enthusiasm for REPRONIG’s noble initiatives.
“Our collaboration will serve as a model for other institutions and contribute significantly to the development of education and intellectual property rights in Nigeria,” Mr. Adedapo said.
This historic partnership marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between REPRONIG and the academic communities in Nigeria. The REPRONIG-OAU partnership is poised to yield positive results, promoting intellectual property rights, academic excellence and ethical scholarship in Nigeria.
