TO celebrate World Music Day, the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has called attention to the unifying and healing power of music during times of national challenges. In a heartfelt message, PMAN’s National President, Pretty Okafor, has called on Nigerian musicians and creatives to embrace collaboration and use their art as a force for unity and progress.

“As we commemorate World Music Day, we are reminded of music’s profound ability to transcend borders, promote peace, and inspire hope,” said Okafor. “In these trying times, our artistes are uniquely positioned to shape narratives that foster national cohesion and resilience.”

PMAN’s boss emphasized the economic potential of the music industry, describing it as a “multi-trillion naira industry” capable of generating employment and driving national growth. Okafor underscores that “music alone can create more jobs than oil and gas combined,” and urged industry players to align with PMAN’s vision to empower the next generation of Nigerian creatives.

He further said the association’s resolve to work with all stakeholders, artists, and music lovers across the country to unite in building a thriving music ecosystem that uplifts, educates, and empowers.

According to Mr. Okafor, “We celebrate the universal language of music today. Let this be a call to action for every creative mind in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Together, we can unlock the full potential of our art and shape a brighter future.”

PMAN wished all Nigerians and global music lovers a joyful and reflective World Music Day, inspiring renewed commitment to peace, creativity, and nation-building through music.
