Obasanjo to headline finale of literature, science prizes award 2022

THE Nigeria Prizes for Literature, Science and Literary Criticism sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) will be awarded on October 14, 2022 at Zinnia & Jasmine Halls, Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos. These are annual prizes established to recognise and reward excellent works in literature and science.
A statement by the General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Nigeria LNG Limited, Mr. Andy Odeh, said, “These prizes which are awarded to deserving Nigerians, have earned worldwide recognition as Africa’s most prestigious literary and science prizes. They are very clear demonstrations of NLNG’s commitment to its vision, of being a globally competitive LNG company helping to build a better Nigeria. The 2022 edition of the literature prize celebrates excellence in poetry, and that of the science prize focusses on innovative solutions in food security.
“Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), founder of African Leadership Forum and distinguished author, will grace the event as the keynote speaker. I, therefore, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Management of Nigeria LNG Limited, invite you to the 2022 NLNG Grand Award Night for the NLNG Prize for Literature, the NLNG Prize for Science and the NLNG Prize for Literary Criticism.”
Three shortlisted are vying for the topmost The Nigeria Prize for Literature worth USD$100,000 are Su’eddie Vershima Agema for his poetry collection, Memory and the Call of Waters, Saddiq M. Dzukogi with his poetry collection, Your Crib, My Qibla, and Romeo Oriogun with his poetry collection, Nomad. Also, the Literary Criticism Prize worth N1 million will also be awarded for a work of critical insight that illuminates an aspect of Nigerian literary offering. The award of prizes on October 14, 2022 will bring to a close the process that started in April that beams a searchlight on the best poetry coming of Nigeria.
