Culture parade in Warri, Ibadan as Tarila-Nikade reads from ‘Ebiama…’, Olasope headlines IBASHOW

ON Sunday, April 21, 2024 the Literati in the oil city Warri will be treated to literary offering by the author of The Other Room and Other Poems, Dr. Ebidenyefa Tarila-Nikade in an evening of reading, conversations and book Signing. She will also read from Ebiama: The Gloryland and 14 Letters To My Lazy Lover On Valentine’s Day. Special guest for the event is the newly appointed Dean of Post Graduate School, Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Sunny Ahwefeada.

The event will take place at Oduah Hotel & Suites, B11, Iffie Layout, Behind Iye Plaza, Off Refinery Road, Ekpan, Delta State. Time is 4:00pm. Tarila-Nikade is specially inviting members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Delta, South-South writers and literary minds in Warri, Sapele, Abraka, Ughelli, Benin City to this literary hang out. Some of the confirmed guests include Mrs. Erumena Akpoghene Adaiah, Eriata Oribhabor, Oyem Gary, Perpetua Iyere, Mstdeprof Ogwara Amaka and Oghenero Ezaza.

And in Ibadan, “The larks are singing. The nightingales are also singing. And the sun keeps smiling for the rains not to disturb”, as “the days for Ibadan Books and Arts Show are getting nigh. With Prof. Olakunbi Olasope, a powerful classicist of international repute as IBASHOW 2024 ambassador, the coast is very clear for a great outing,” a statement from fiesta’s chair, Mr. Ebika Anthony and his co-chair, Phil Nwoko indicates.

IBASHOW, held in collaboration with Yinbol College, Ibadan, a leading coeducational college that has produced great Nigerians, is organised by Pheb Diamond Impressions, Ibadan, and will hold from May 16 – 18, 2024. Venue is Yinbol College Field, Orogun, Ibadan. Time is 9:00am to 6:00p.m daily. IBASHOW 2024 will feature a keynote address, exhibition of books and artworks, and panel sessions, etc. Participants of IBASHOW will include publishers, artists, teachers, students and public office holders, amongst others.

And on Sunday, April 14, 2024 @5:00pm, Alliance Francaise, Lagos will bring film lovers an evening of creative narrative from the minds of up-and-coming Nigerian directors who are redefining storytelling. The French cultural centre is the public to join it to celebrate the bold visionaries shaping the future of Nigerian cinema! Venue is Alliance Française de Lagos, Mike Adenuga Centre, 9 Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The short films up for viewing at the main auditorium include Magic Pen (Chidinma Onyebuchi), Endless Loop (Emmy Williams), Swimming in a Sea of Trauma (Ugochukwu Azuya), Telephobia (Paul Edozie), Dreams & Until23 (Chioma Dike) and Round and Finding Dede (Ire Belles).
