THE Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) will hold its maiden ANA Book Fair 2026 from October 29 to 31 at the Chinua Achebe Conference Centre, Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village, KM 2, Mpape, Abuja, as part of activities marking its 45th International Convention. Also, the association has named seven fellowship honours for 2026 following a screening exercise conducted by the screening committee.

The three-day event will begin daily at 9:00am and bring together authors, readers, publishers, schools and other stakeholders to celebrate Nigerian literature and expand access to locally published books. The book fair is designed to address longstanding concerns about the visibility and accessibility of works by Nigerian authors. By providing a dedicated platform for exhibiting and selling books, ANA aims to connect writers directly with readers, create new sales opportunities and strengthen engagement within the Nigerian literary community.

The selection, which was approved by the College of Fellows, followed a thorough assessment of applications by the Committee to determine the candidates’ eligibility and suitability for the prestigious honour, in accordance with the Association’s established requirements and standards.

The seven members named for the 2026 Fellowship honours are Joan Iheoma Oji, Matthew Chukwuma Odono, Emeka Godwin Ukwuaba, Eriata Edwin Oribhabor, Iornumbe Charles, Akpan Martin Akpan and Sumaila Isah Umaisha.

The association congratulates the seven members on their selection and celebrates their recognition through the 2026 ANA Fellowship process.

The book initiative also underscores the association’s commitment to supporting its members and advancing the nation’s literary heritage.

ANA invites its state chapters and members to participate by bringing their published works to the fair, regardless of the number of titles available. Authors of poetry, prose, drama, children’s literature and other genres will have opportunities to exhibit and sell their books, sign copies and network with fellow writers and publishing professionals.

Subsidised exhibition stands will be available to ANA members. Interested authors can obtain further information from the ANA Secretariat at the Writers’ Village, Mpape, Abuja.

Readers, schools, publishers, booksellers, students and literature enthusiasts are equally encouraged to attend. Visitors will be able to discover a diverse range of Nigerian books, purchase titles at fair prices, interact with authors and participate in literary readings and panel discussions. Admission is free, offering the public an opportunity to engage with writers and explore the breadth of contemporary Nigerian writing.

As part of its 45th International Convention, the maiden ANA Book Fair is expected to establish a valuable platform for literary exchange and commercial engagement at the Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village.

ANA calls on writers, educational institutions, publishers and the general public to support the initiative and make Mpape a vibrant gathering point for books and ideas. The association remains committed to empowering Nigerian writers and nurturing the country’s literary culture, a mission it has pursued since 1981.
