WHAT happens when the truth isn’t enough? Femi and Tomi are “happily” married, but tonight, their vows are on trial. As Femi confesses to an affair with a younger woman, Tomi fights not just for her marriage, but for her sanity. A brutal cocktail of lust, regret, and the ultimate betrayal. You think you know love? You don’t know this kind of ending. A Husband’s Wife. Does love really end? It’s written by Tyrone Terrence.

When the curtains opens this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th, 2025 at 16 Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos, theatre lovers will be treated to a stunning piece of performance at an irregular or unconventional theatre space, one of such spaces conceived by director Mr. Bimbo Olorunmola, who says, “The choice of the venue follows a long tradition of B-Rated Productions staging plays in unconventional spaces,” because of the envisaged huge cost challenge that comes with conventional theatre spaces for young theatre-makers who dream to produce but cannot. As someone experienced in the theatre circuit, Mr. Olorunmola is thus pointing out what might not have occurred to theatre producers, who dream of taking their plays to the newly renovated and renamed Wole Soyinka Centre for Creative Arts (National Theatre), Iganmu or Terra Kulture Theatre Arena, Victoria Island, Lagos or similar spaces across the country: that they can make theatre in irregular or unconventional spaces and keep their passion for theatre-making burning and not let it be snuffed out by such challenge.

“One of the major challenges facing the average theatre maker is access to theatre venues,” he explains. “There are very few purpose-built theatre venues and they are mostly beyond the financial reach of the producer. We believe that having performances in smaller, more affordable unconventional spaces is the way to go. This gives producers more options and access. It also opens their eyes to possibilities beyond the conventional stage.”

Olorunmola also explains that A Husband’s Wife is a unique theatre piece, as it is dialogue-driven, with the two performers – Paul Utomi and Tosin Aderemi – being some of the best in the game.

According to Olorunmola, “The play is what you’d call “an actor’s play”. It’s very much dialogue driven and relies heavily on the ability of the actors to convey the dialogues with the appropriate nuances. Paul and Tosin are two actors with undeniable abilities. Tosin Adeyemi needs no introduction on the Nigerian stage. With her talents, she basically picks herself. Paul Utomi is an on-screen regular with exceptional quality.

“It was important to have two actors who complement each other and together Tosin and Paul provide a cocktail of the required brilliance.”
