A wave of excitement is sweeping across Delta State as whispers of a groundbreaking literary and creative event continue to build anticipation. While details remain under wraps, insiders hint that something extraordinary is set to be unveiled on Friday, March 6, 2026, in Asaba—a moment that could mark a new chapter for the literary and creative community in the region. This announcement is in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Service of Delta State Government.

The buzz surrounds LightRay! Media, a trailblazing organization known for championing innovative storytelling, investigative narratives, and cultural advocacy. At the heart of the excitement is the internationally celebrated Isoko, Delta State-born author and visionary Lady Ejiro Umukoro, whose award-winning Distortion series has already made waves by inspiring social change, including the abolition of the Osu Caste system in Oguta and other communities and raising awareness on critical issues like baby farms (or factory), adoption, surrogacy, human rights, and mental health.

Speculation is rife that Lady Umukoro and LightRay! Media are gearing up to launch an event that will bring together creatives, book lovers, readers, thinkers, and audiences in an unprecedented celebration of literature and resilience. With her reputation as a cultural leader and her commitment to amplifying marginalized voices, many are eager to see what she has planned.

While official details of the announcement are yet to be revealed, sources suggest that the event will explore themes of overcoming adversity and finding renewal, echoing the universal themes embedded in the Distortion series.

It will be noted that the Delta State Ministry of Education approved Umukoro’s Distortion as a literature text for students. The novel continues to resonate deeply with readers across Nigeria. Due to readers’ demand for a sequel, The Distortion of Hadassah emerged the South-South Regional Winner of the TYB Young Adult Literature Prize. Delta residents are therefore in for a treat as millions of prize winning competition categories will be unveiled for for civil servants, professionals, students, librarians and book clubs.

Lady Umukoro, the recipient of numerous international accolades, including the United States Agency for Global Media ChangeMaker Award and the British Council International Communications Award, is known for her ability to transform stories into movements. This upcoming event announcement is expected to reflect her passion for fostering cross-cultural collaboration and creative innovation.

The countdown to March 6th has officially begun, and all eyes are on Asaba for what promises to be a transformative moment for Delta State’s literary and creative scene. Stay tuned as LightRay! Media prepares to reveal what could be the most talked-about event of the year.
