Ajakaye shines at 3rd COVTED-TASFUED int’l confab in Ogun

THE 3rd International Conference hosted by the College of Vocational and Technology Education at Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED) in Ogun State, Nigeria, has come and gone, but it leaves behind memory of intellectual discussions and groundbreaking research presentations. Among the standout performers was Rashidat Olamidayo Ajakaye, whose presentation on ‘Cultural Literacy and Creative Competence as Twin Pillars for Global Performance and Employability’ left a lasting impression on attendees. Ajakaye, a corps member at the Department of English and Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance at TASFUED, presented a paper co-authored with Mr. Stephen Ayodele Ayinmode, a lecturer at the Department of Creative Arts, College of Humanities, TASFUED. The paper explored the intersection of cultural literacy and creative competence, highlighting their importance in driving global performance and employability. Mr. Ayinmode, a renowned expert in creative arts, played a pivotal role in shaping the paper and guiding Ajakaye through the publication process. His expertise and mentorship were instrumental in making the paper publishable.
The 3rd International Conference, themed ‘Upscaling Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Global Skills Competitiveness,’ brought together national and international participants to share insights and research on TVET. The conference explored sub-themes such as integrating business education into TVET, incorporating AI and robotics into technology education, and upscaling home economics and creative art education. The keynote speakers, Prof. Fakorede Saheed Olojide and lead speaker Prof. Amubode Abedotun set the tone for the conference, emphasizing the importance of TVET in driving global skills competitiveness.
Ajakaye’s presentation was a highlight of the conference, showcasing her expertise in cultural literacy and creative competence. She argued that cultural literacy and creative competence are essential for individuals to navigate diverse cultural situations and achieve personal and organizational success.
