CURATED by Dr. Chika ThankGod of Fine and Applied Art Department of Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai, Asaba, the Chukwuemeke Washington Uba photo exhibition titled ‘Yoga Is a Reflection’ is taken from two dimensions of the artists’s creative vision, where he said, “Self-awareness and clarity: Just as a still, reflective surface can show a clear image, a reflective mindset helps one see themselves more clearly, which can be a path to healing and self-evolution. The month-long exhibition will start on December 10, 2025 and end on January 10, 2026.

“Illusion versus reality: Water’s reflection is a metaphor for the illusion of perception versus the reality of the “actual object,” reminding practitioners that a reflection is not the true form,” with the abstract derived Abhyasa as “a tenet in yoga philosophy that means consistent, uninterrupted practice over a long period of time.”

The photo exhibition will take place at the Indigenous Cultural Centre (ICC)—an inspiring space located within the Delta State Film Village, Anwai Asaba, where tradition meets innovation. With eco-friendly mud, thatch, and bamboo structures, the centre is a living tribute to Africa’s ancestral wisdom, offering inclusive, world-class spaces for artistic expression, cultural education, and community celebration.

In just over two years after its opening, the Indigenous Cultural Center has established itself as a dedicated hub towards the sustainable growth of artistic and cultural endeavours.

Borne from the vision of a collective growth as a people by sharing knowledge and nature’s given talents, the centre has inaugurated a new season of activities with the opening of its Outdoor Garden Art Exhibition’s permanent space.

With the inauguration of its new exhibition space, ICC Asaba has launched a high-profile exhibition season featuring iconic names in photography, art and architecture within the community from students to professionals.
