Adegbola: Exploring the humanity, technology, Yoruba worldview of a polymath

THE Ibadan Book and Arts Festival, in partnership with the NuStreams Conference and Culture Centre, will hold ‘The Polymath’s Journey — A Conversation with Dr. Tunde Adegbola on Humanity, Technology, and the Yoruba Worldview.’ This landmark event will take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the NuStreams Conference and Culture Centre, KM 110, Alalubosa GRA, Abeokuta Road, Ibadworldvieparbnowned polymath, scholar, technologist, and cultural advocate, Dr. Adegbola has dedicated his life to bridging the worlds of tradition and innovation. From pioneering work in language technology to his enduring contributions to Yoruba cultural preservation and intellectual life in Nigeria and beyond, Dr. Adegbola represents the rare convergence of deep humanistic vision and scientific inquiry.

According to Festival Director, Servio Gbadamosi, “The Polymath’s Journey will be an intimate evening of reflections and conversations exploring his life’s work, cultural philosophy, and the many ways his vision continues to shape our understanding of humanity, technology, and the Yoruba worldview.”

This event is also part of the run-up to the inaugural Ibadan Book and Arts Festival (IbaFest), scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 24–25, 2025. By celebrating one of Ibadan’s most distinguished sons, this conversation sets the stage for what promises to be one of Nigeria’s most vibrant celebration of literature, culture, and ideas. The event also forms part of a month-long multimedia exhibition honouring Dr. Adegbola at his 70th birthday celebration at the NuStreams Conference and Culture Centre, showcasing his extraordinary journey across disciplines and generations.

The Ibadan Book and Arts Festival (IbaFest) is an annual celebration of African literature, creativity, and cultural dialogue. Rooted in Ibadan—a city renowned for its literary and cultural heritage—IbaFest brings together writers, artists, scholars, and cultural leaders to explore the power of stories and the potential of the Creative and Cultural Industries to transform education, community, and national development. The inaugural edition of the festival themed, ‘The Past as Prologue to the Future’ will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 24–25, 2025 at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
